LASIK

There are many differences in LASIK equipment. One system follows eye movement with a laser radar tracker, others with a video or "active" tracker, and still others don't use a tracking system at all. The width of the laser beam varies considerably from system to system as well. These technological differences matter, because they can affect what happens during the procedure. More importantly, they can affect the vision you will have for the rest of your life.

LASIK FAQ

LASIK, or Laser Assisted in Situ Keratomileusis, involves reshaping the cornea of the eye. To correct nearsightedness the curvature is flattened; to correct farsightedness, the curvature is increased. Techniques that reduce Astigmatism reshape the cornea producing a more evenly curved surface.

Advanced Surface Ablation / Flapless Treatment

Photo-Refractive Keratectomy (PRK) was the first laser vision correction procedure. It became popular worldwide in the early 1990s and in the USA in 1995 when the excimer laser was first approved by the FDA for laser vision correction (LVC). The excimer laser brought tremendous advancements to the specialty known as "refractive surgery." Prior to 1995 the predominate form of refractive surgery was Radial Keratotomy (RK), which involved making a series of incisions to change the shape of the cornea.

NearVision CK®

It is a simple, non-invasive procedure with very few side effects. NearVision CK is performed while the person is awake, with the entire procedure taking only a few minutes to complete. Presbyopia is a condition of the eye, in which the lens inside the eye hardens and loses flexibility. This condition develops as our eyes age, and is most common in people who are over 40 years-old. As part of the natural aging process, presbyopia cannot be prevented and, if left untreated, may worsen over time.

Visian ICL

Myopia is a vision disorder that we commonly call nearsightedness. People who are myopic can see things that are close, but have difficulty seeing things that are far away. This is due to the elongated shape of the eye. This elongation causes incoming light to improperly focus on the retina (the back of the eye), where it is converted into a signal that lets us see.
