Edward Yung, M.D.

Edward Yung, M.D.Dr. Edward Yung, MD, is an ophthalmologist practicing in comprehensive ophthalmology and glaucoma subspecialty. He joined Pacific Eye Institute in 2017. He received his Bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Berkeley with Phi Beta Kappa honors and his medical degree from Temple University School of Medicine, where he was nominated into the Alpha Omega Alpha national honor society. He completed his ophthalmology residency at the State University of New York at Stony Brook and went on to do his glaucoma specialty training at the Wills Eye Hospital.

His clinical specialty is focused on glaucoma consultation, laser and surgical management of glaucoma, cataract surgery, minimally invasive glaucoma surgery, and comprehensive adult eye care. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Glaucoma Society, the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. He speaks conversational Cantonese Chinese and German.

Dr. Yung has a wide range of academic interest in glaucoma, including evaluation of innovative drug treatments, minimally invasive surgical devices, devices for continuous intraocular pressure monitoring, and innovative optic nerve imaging technology. His ongoing interest is the investigation of optic nerve head blood flow with Optical Coherence Tomography Angiography as it relates to the pathophysiology of glaucoma. He is the author and co-author of numerous peer-reviewed articles, book chapters, continuing medical education courses, and presentations at national ophthalmological conferences.
