Nishant G. Soni, MD attended Cornell University in Ithaca, NY for his undergraduate studies, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Society. He completed his medical degree at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Brunswick, NJ, during which he published research on the prognosis and management of open globe eye injuries.
Dr. Soni trained at the University of Maryland in Baltimore, MD for his ophthalmology residency, where he received two American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery Foundation research grants to conduct research on corneal tissue preservation in cold storage media.
To pursue his interests in international medicine, he traveled to Hyderabad, India for additional training in small incision cataract surgery at the L.V. Prasad Eye Institute. Dr. Soni completed a fellowship in Cornea, External Disease, and Refractive Surgery at the USC Roski Eye Institute in Los Angeles, CA. His clinical interests include complex cataract surgery, ocular surface disease, endothelial cell transplantation surgery (DSEK and DMEK), LASIK and PRK, as well as international ophthalmology.
Outside of ophthalmology, you can find him singing blues music, riding a bicycle, playing tennis, or spending time with his wife and baby girl.
